VTB repelled over 80 DDOS attacks in September

VTB specialists note a sharp increase in the number of DDOS attacks in September this year.
In a month, the bank successfully repelled over 80 threats - more than in all 8 months since the beginning of the year. Several "records" were recorded: up to 350 Gbps in terms of power and up to 6 hours of attack duration. The aim of the cybercriminals is the inaccessibility of the bank's online services. First of all, cyber fraudsters seek to disable the website and Internet banking, as well as 3ds services. One of the most common attack options is when "spurious" traffic is generated from many thousands of sources, the processing of which can overload network equipment. VTB successfully repelled the attacks of malefactors and ensured the continuity of the provision of services to the bank's clients. This was facilitated by both the means of protection of the credit institution itself and services for filtering network traffic on the side of telecommunication service providers. VTB services are provided with multi-level protection and are designed immediately taking into account security requirements. The bank operates means of protection against DDOS attacks, firewalls, sandboxes to analyze all incoming information from the outside, including from partners. The second tier is event handling and abnormal traffic detection.
