Man faces up to 15 years in prison for trying to sell heroin through bookmarks

The Maikop police detained a suspect in attempted drug sale through bookmarks.

Police officers detained a 46-year-old local resident in one of the Maikop microdistricts. He had several parcels with him, which, according to the experts, contained heroin and methadone. Law enforcement officers also found plastic bags with similar contents in the man's car and in hiding places. It turned out that the defendant was planning to sell prohibited substances via the Internet. The man is currently in custody, a criminal case has been opened. He faces up to 15 years in prison, according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Adygea. Russian law provides for serious deadlines for traffickers of prohibited substances. For example, the Maykop city court sentenced members of an organized criminal group involved in organizing an interregional channel for the supply of heroin to Adygea. The defendants in the criminal case were sentenced to imprisonment in a strict regime colony for terms of 7 to 10 years. From May to August 2019, five criminal cases were initiated on the illegal production, sale or transfer of drugs. The criminal cases were combined into one proceeding.
