For evading vaccination in Russia, they propose to fine

The RAS virologist Lukashev calls for this to be done every month.

Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, virologist Alexander Lukashev , offers a monthly fine for evasion of vaccination . As he said on the air of the radio station " Moscow speaking ", during a pandemic, the health care system is experiencing a serious financial burden, and the reluctance to get vaccinated only aggravates the situation. According to the expert, the treatment of one COVID-19 patient costs about 200 thousand rubles, and the indirect damage can be about half a million. “In such a situation, I think it is quite reasonable to take some financial measures to increase vaccination coverage. We have long been accustomed to the fact that we pay for our bad habits - excise taxes on alcohol, excise taxes on cigarettes. This is quite normal, because then these bad habits weigh heavily on the health care system, ”Lukashev said. The virologist believes that the most optimal solution is to fine those who refuse vaccination by five thousand rubles a month. First of all, such a measure is necessary for those who are at risk. And do not forget that vaccination is still the most reliable way to protect against coronavirus.
